Friday Favorites #21!

Happy Friday!!! We made it – woohoo!! DJ had to work super late last night (around 11 pm), but in turn he gets today entirely off! I still have to work on school shtuff all day, but I love having him around. I have faves bursting at the seams this week- definitely will have to save some for next week too!

  1. Trader Joe’s Tzatziki– oh man, this stuff is so creamy and delicious. I like putting it on my “chik’n”, eating it with hummus and pita chips, or putting it in my salads.

2. Trader Joe’s Sliced French Brioche. The obsession is real. This is a must-try. We use it mainly for sandwiches, french toast, and grilled cheese!

3. Little Pink Book. I am sooo old fashioned in keeping “paper records”. I don’t totally trust technology plus I’m bad at it, lol. Anywho- this little book is so fun & adorable for storing all contacts and addresses. I’m sure my mom is happy to read this considering it means I won’t constantly text her, “What is so & so’s address again?”

4. Crispy Chickpeas from Trader Joe’s. This is more of a DJ Friday Fave, I like these, but DJ loves them. I actually prefer the Saffron Road brand, but these are still yummy.

5. Olay Instant Hydration Eye Cream. I gotta say, I am usually so skeptical about face and eye creams- they cost an arm & a leg, but do they actually work? I noticed a difference in my under eye puffiness and also general smoothness in my under eyes by using this for one day! It lasts for a long time too because you only need very little.

6. Fyre Festival Documentaries. This is kind of old news now, but I have to include it! Oh man, this is a fascinating documentary! I suggest watching both- the Netflix and Hulu styles are different & you learn different aspects about the whole mess through each. I won’t even give a synopsis because I’m sure y’all are well aware about it by now. Gosh, it’s entertaining.

7. Airpods! DJ has wanted to get these for me for a long time for a Christmas or bday gift for the last couple years, but I always said I didn’t get the point. I didn’t see how they were that different truly from the regular headphones. WOW, was I wrong in my thinking- these are a game changer!! He finally got them for me this past Christmas, and I am sooo glad. They are sooo much easier, don’t catch on everything, and I think my form is better running because I can truly stand up straight without the headphones tugging on my phone. Also, I can do HITT routines while listening to podcasts or music… I couldn’t do that with my wire ones because they needed to be connected to my phone.

8. Maybelline’s Colossal Volume Mascara. We have all seen the commercials for this mascara, and I had a sample I finally tried. I usually use “They’re Real!“.. but that can be sooo doggone pricy. This Mascara is insanely comparable, maybe even adds more volume, and is a price I can justify!

9. The Wife Between Us. Wowzas, this book is a good one! Some people compare it to the style of Behind Closed Doors, one of my favorites from last year. This book, similarly, had sooo many twists and turns at the end, my jaw was nearly on the floor. Thanks, Maureen, for the suggestion! I really hope they make this a movie!

10. The Final Table. Where my cooking show fanatics at?!?! This is a must watch! The Final Table takes the best chefs from around the world and they compete in the ultimate cooking competition. This is top tier cooking competition gold.

    1. Ohhhhh that’s such a great idea!! I did that once years ago, but don’t know why I haven’t since?!? Thanks for reminding me about that! What spices do you like to use usually?

  1. Oh my gosh, we have been watching The Final Table as well! It’s so good! I love how they completely showcase different countries and cultures instead of just the U.S. style of cooking.
The airpods always seemed like they would fall out to me! I guess they don’t since you can use them during running and HIIT workouts. Bluetooth earphones really are a game changer since it makes it soooo much easier to not be connected to a device all the time.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

    1. Isn’t it good?! I think I might put on an episode now. Okay I have really weirdly shaped ear lobes so headphones RARELY stay in- I’ve tried multiple brands. The only ones that do are apple’s & the airpods stay in SO well. i don’t know how to explain it, but it’s nearly magical! I am a big proponent haha. But any bluetooth ones are definitely a game changer- agreed! Thanks for stopping in, Courtney 🙂

    1. Yay! I hope you find them easily & enjoy them. Isn’t The Final Table so great?! I feel like I’m learning a lot through it too. Such a great concept for a show.

    1. They are soo good! Almost like eating potato chips! I need to try to make them at home too- they are so easy (I did a few years back), time to jump back on that train!

    1. Aw, well now that you have heard of the magical ear buds I hope you do get some! They are game-changers, truly!! So nice to hear from you, Myra, and I hope all is well 🙂

  2. This was a fantastic Friday Faves! I want to buy that eye cream NOW and good to know about that Mascara as I am a mascara junkie!!! Thanks for these super tips today! And yes to air pods being life changing, can’t imagine running without them, nicely done DJ!

    1. Aww I am so glad you enjoyed this one!! The eye cream is like magic- the other one I just discovered is Olay’s line of Regenerist- oh my word it’s like magic. But you also have pretty much the greatest skin ever, so whatever you’re using I would stick to, lol! I can’t believe it took me so long to finally accept the air pods– they are game changers for real! Thanks for the comment, Mom. XO

  3. How on earth do you have time to read too Mackenzie? I need to do a pie chart for my life since I cannot remember the last time I sat and read anything. The little pink book – I have two that resemble yours, but they are actually binders and have insertable pages. They must be at least 30 years old, started long before the word “contacts” was used and purchase around the time the Rolodex was the way to keep track of people’s names. They didn’t need a line for “cellphone number” – cellphones weren’t around yet. 🙂

    1. Hehe- I read when I run or as I’m falling to sleep. I definitely don’t read as much as I’d like to, but the books I’ve been reading lately have been gripping my attention! I had a long run today so I was able to make a bit of a dent since I finished my academic reading. Hehe- I think you do quite a bit of reading here in the blogging world!

Aw I love that you have some of the books too. I remember my mom’s rolodexes. I think that’s why I’m partial to keeping my own paper copy because I always attributed it to being an “adult” lol!

      1. Ha ha – The size of a businessperson’s Rolodex back in the 90s probably was a good way to judge how successful they were – it’d be the equivalent of a business contact list today. My boss refuses to use an electronic calendar – still a regular “Week at a Glance” calendar for him as old habits never die. You are correct – I do a lot of reading here in the blogging world!

      2. LOL that’s sooo funny & probably SO true. Yessss I am the same- I love a week at a glance and tangibly writing everything out too. Happy Monday!

  4. I enjoyed that book and use that mascara!!!! love your pink book!!!! I need some of that eye cream in my life- two jobs = extra puffiness!!! Have a wonderful weekend Mackenzie!!

    1. Girl, I don’t know how you do it all, but I admire you soo much for how you do it all with such grace. The eye cream works magic! I feel like I look so much more awake after I use it. And I wish that I had started using that mascara sooner- it’s amazing.

  5. Ahhh I am finally catching up (kinda WordPress is still being weird 🙁 )
I LOVE how this Friday Favs post is basically an ode to Trader Joes!
Girl that Tzatziki is life! I LOVE it
I am so happy to hear you like the ear pods! I am on the fence about them. I also use the microphone on my earphones quite a bit, especially when I am In a crowded area, and I always wonder about the reception for these.
The Fyre Documentaries were cray cray!
I hope you have an amazing weekend beauty! <3

    1. Awww yay a Kate comment!! Lol- right?! You have me hooked. I finally tried the Banh Mi bowl too & that was SOO good!

Ohhhh yeah I hadn’t even though about that with the microphone… (fun fact- I actually didn’t even know the wires one had one until I saw you speaking into it!). lol.

Weren’t they just nuts? Thanks for stopping in, love!! xoxo

    1. Thanks so much for stopping in, Kimberlee! So good to hear from you. I’m so glad you enjoyed this post!! 🙂 Have a beautiful rest of your weekend!

  6. Awesome post!

I loved that pink address book, so cute! I am so into stationary. Growing up Lisa Frank was the ultimate stationary for me, LoL.

I have been meaning to watch those Fyre documentaries. I usually choose tv most of the time, LoL, although I really want to watch these films. The story is crazy.

    1. Aww thank you, Jodi!!! Yess we are so similar- I’m glad you are with me on that! Oh my gosh, Lisa Frank, yessss!

Ah you have got to watch soon. It’s sooo good. Thanks for stopping in & have a great Sunday 🙂

      1. LoL, Lisa Frank forever! Anytime these days when I see anything Lisa Frank it’s a must have, LoL. I miss the days when this merchandise was everywhere.

I also meant to write how I actually just got the book, The Wife Between Us, not too long ago. I hear it’s so good! Hope to read that this year.

      2. Agreeeed! I rarely ever do see it though. Ah, the good ol’ days!

Oh my gosh, it’s such a great read. SO many twists at the end. my jaw was on the floor! let me know what you think if you finally get to read it 🙂

      3. It’s rare to see anything Lisa Frank these days at the stores, but I have seen stuff here and there randomly over the years. I’ve seen merchandise like stickers at the dollar store and not too long ago Hot Topic was selling Lisa Frank tee shirts! So awesome!

Oh will totally let you know how I like the book whenever I end up reading it. I actually just finished reading my latest book read Love, Simon yesterday. So good and now I can’t wait to watch the film adaptation!

Bachelor madness on tv tonight, LoL!

      4. What?!? Hot topic was selling Lisa Franks tees?!?! That is too fun!!

I have heard from several people that Love, Simon is a good book!!! I need to add that to my list- thanks for sharing the suggestion. And girl, I’m counting down the hours. i am sooo excited . I live for Mondays, lol!

      5. Yeah, I almost passed out in excitement when I found out Lisa Frank tee shirts were a thing, LoL. So glad to see this franchise making a comeback!

Sure thing, it was a lovely book. Hope you enjoy it too!

Bachelor Mondays are the best, LoL.

  7. I really thought the Fyre Festival documentaries were fascinating too! My husband loves those cooking shows so I will be passing that info on to him. 🙂

    1. Right?!? sooo interesting. I can’t believe I never heard about the whole fiasco before the documentaries. And yesss- if he likes cooking shows I bet he’ll love this one!!! It’s awesome! Have a great week, Katy 🙂

  8. Mmmm tzatziki is one of my fav sauces! So bright, refreshing, and delicious. Very versatile too!

That brioche…ohmygosh heavenly! And as French toast? In-credible.

I try to be conscious of my paper usage, but I love planners. While I don’t have an address book, I certainly can see how nice it would be to still have one rather than relying on our phones to store all of the information!

I keep telling Matt we should watch the Fyre Festival documentaries, but he hasn’t been enthused. Hopefully we’ll watch soon!

I *need* to start reading again! There’s nothing better some afternoons or evenings than hot tea and a fabulous book.

I sure hope you’ve had the best weekend!

    1. I so agree!!! It is a wonderful compliment to soo many dishes!

Definitely! I feel pretty convicted about my paper usage because of all my school reading (and I HATE reading on a screen all day), but I also have a strange distrust in technology lol.

OH my goshhhh the Fyre Festival documentaries are my favorite I’ve seen in a while!! They are a must! It’s all so mind blowing. I can’t believe it actually happened!

I totally agreeee!!! Sunday afternoons are my favorite after church to do that if I have all my school work done! So restful and relaxing.

      Aww you too, Kori!! xo

      1. So many dishes for sure!

Yessss! Every month when I print patient lab reports, I just think of all the trees I’m harming. :'(

Matt and I finally watched it last night! All I could think was, “what the what”?” The fact that he had the nerve to start ANOTHER scam while out on bail is unbelievable. He has a sick mind and genuine mental illness.

I really do love Sundays! Just not late Sunday because then Monday is too close for comfort. Lol

      2. I agreeeeeee- definitely think there is probably some type of underlying narcissistic personality disorder. The audacity of the things he did!!! Mind. blowing. I saw a sign on SM that recently cracked me up that said, “On a scale of Marie Kondo to Fyre Festival, how much of a mess is your life?” It made me laugh!!

Oh yesss late Sunday the sunday scaries definitely kick in!

      3. It’s nauseating what he did!! But a teeny tiny part of me had to laugh at the people with more money than they had sense. To spend that kind of dough to get wasted on an island is ridiculous. But to each their own! Hahahaha that sign! Perfection.

  9. I’ve never had tzatziki sauce, but I had tzatziki flavored potato chips before and they were delicious. I need to try the real thing!

I’ve never used that Olay eye cream, but I’ve been using Hey Honey eye cream that I got in an ipsy bag, and I love it. It brightens my under eye area and makes me look less like a zombie. 😛

I watched the Fyre Festival documentary on Netflix and really liked it. I still remember when all that went down. It’s so intriguing for some reason.

    1. Oohhhhh the thought of tzatziki potato chips is making my mouth water!!!

Hey honey cream sounds awesome! I am with ya- anything that makes me feel like less of a zombie! I had no idea about the Fyre Festival UNTIL the documentaries! How could I miss something that huge?! Thanks for stopping in, Britney 🙂

  10. I wish I wish I wish we had a Trader Joe’s close by.

But I am going to try the mascara and watch the Netflix version of Frye!

    Love your Faves Posts!

    1. I just discovered TJ’s and wish I had known about them a long time ago!! My favorite back in Indiana was Aldi! Do you have one of those near you? Sorta similar feel!

And yesss- I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like to read books twice or see movies twice, but I loved watching both because they were so different! Thanks for stopping in, Nancy 🙂

  11. Love your faves this week! I’m adding all those goodies to my TJ’s shopping list for when I finally get there! I may have to try that cream, too. I’ve been noticing under my eyes have been a bit puffy lately and was looking for a good eye cream. Thanks for the suggestion! The Wife Between Us is such a good book! I’m pretty sure Maureen was the one who suggested it to me, as well 🙂 I’ve also been eyeing up air pods recently. Now I’m super convinced I need them! Thanks for sharing all your faves!!

    1. Thank you so much, Em 🙂 Hope you enjoy the TJ finds! And of course- this stuff from Olay is awesome… all their products work SO well! YES- The Wife Between Us took me totally by surprise- that’s my favorite type of book for sure. I will vouch for air pods any day- I was a skeptic & now I am truly sold! Hope you can grab them soon 🙂 Have a great start to your week & thank you tons for stopping in!

  12. I love tzatziki!! That pink book is so cute! I’m always looking for a good mascara! It’s my favorite piece of makeup! I liked Behind Closed Doors so I need to check out that book! I hope your week is going great! xx

    1. Glad you enjoyed these finds 🙂 I am with ya on the mascara! If I could only use one piece of makeup in the morning mascara would be it- no contest! If you liked Behind Closed Doors you will really enjoy this one. The twists and turns at the end are mind boggling. I didn’t have any clue what to expect. Hope yours is too 🙂

  13. This is so weird… I have that address book on my Amazon wishlist! I am the exact same way with being old school with stuff like that! I’m glad I’m not the only one.

You have me majorly craving Greek food with that Tzatztki sauce! Jimmy and I were supposed to get gyros for V-Day (and then you know what happened… stomach flu hit haha). We’re hoping to go soon though!

Ahh, Airpods! They’re life changing! Also, Olay products are awesome! I recently picked up their facial mist and love it!

    1. This just made me soooo happy that you have this on your wishlist & also go old school with this type of stuff…. from someone my age that makes me feel like I’m not totally wrong in my love of still writing stuff down!

And yesss Greek food is something I hard core crave too. Definitely hope you guys can get some soon now that you’re back to 100%!

Agreeeee. Ohhh I need to get their facial mist! I love all of Olay’s products- they really do genuinely work & you see the different so quickly! Have a great week, Allie 🙂

  14. I love your Friday favorites posts. I still need to make a trip to Trader Joe’s, seriously! All the things you get from there always look amazing. Once we get settled into this new house, I plan to finally make it out to one. I think the closet one to me now is 40 minutes away! I’ve been meaning to check out The Wife Between Us.

    1. Ahhh I hope you get to try out TJ’s soon- This reminds me I need to make a trip today. Let me know what you think when you finally get the chance to go! 🙂 And yesss The Wife Between Us is great- sooo many twists/turns at the end!

  15. I just cried a bit because I love brioche bread too. You made me crave for it then I saw the dreaded word “buttery” on the bag. 😭 (Now I know there’s dairy & I can’t have it!!!)

I tried some cripsy chickpeas from my Vegancuts snack box! I can’t remember the brand but they weren’t too bad. Mine were kinda hollow which I wasn’t that big a fan of!

I actually have no idea what those Fyre documentaries are about but I keep seeing it pop up everywhere. I doubt I’d enjoy it just because I don’t like documentaries that much… oops lol.

I think I have Wife Between Us on my TBR but I’ll have to double-check. Sounds like a good one!! & I will for sure watch Final Table when I’m done with the British baking show. 😄

    1. Ohhh noooo 🙁 I didn’t even think about that it would have dairy- you just don’t associate bread with dairy- or at least I don’t! I hope you can find some yummy brioche soon that has zero lactose!

Ok so even if you don’t like documentaries traditionally, these are just mind blowing & thoroughly entertaining– like WOAH.

Ahh can’t wait for you to read The Wife Between Us! So many plot twists- ahh so good.

PS. I Just painted my nails with the zoya color you recommended & I’m obsessed!!!! I got it through Amazon and I literally put it on right now when the package as delivered! My nails may not be entirely dry yet hahah

      1. Right?? I just realized naan bread has dairy, too but I guess flatbread/pita is close enough to that… brioche is special!!

Ooh I’m excited, I’ll let you know when I read The Wife Between Us!! I haven’t read a thriller in a little while.

The gray one?!! WE HAVE MATCHING NAILS NOW THEN!! <3 😀

      2. What?!?!? Naan has dairy?! I would have never guessed that! I guess I wasn’t really 100% vegan all those years I thought I was… lol!!

We doo have matching nails!! It’s my favorite color nail I think I’ve ever had. Even DJ commented how much he likes the color- and he never notices stuff like that?! I am definitely including it in my next Friday Faves. Thanks for the suggestion!!! <3

      3. I kept eating it and it was making my stomach hurt so I finally checked the ingredients LOL I think it’s made with both butter & milk!! 🙁

I’m so happy you like the nail color!! That’s so cute that DJ noticed. <3 I constantly ask boyfriend "do you think it's pretty?" after I paint them any color so I can't be sure which ones he actually likes LOL.

      4. Ohhh my goodnesss- that’s so nuts!!

Haha yess, but also your nails are so gorgeous you could literally where anything! I’ll share a pic in my friday faves of my little stubby nails soon- at least the color is ahmayyyzin’ 😉

  16. THAT BREAD! I need it in my life. Now I am craving french toast. I haven’t had french toast in forever but now that bread as me craving it.

My favorite thing this week Lily’s stevia sweetened dark chocolate – it’s so darn tasty!!

    xoxox

    1. It is SOOOO good. Best bread ever!! I hope you can find some soon!

Okayy I had no idea that stevia sweetened chocolate existed?!?! WHAT! That’s amazing. Going to check this out right now. You have the best foodie finds! Thanks for sharing all the goodies with me!! <3

  17. I also watched the Fyre documentary on Netflix recently! I work in event planning so everyone at my company was talking about the films for awhile there haha.

  18. I’ve got the Wife Between Us & Behind Closed Doors on my TBR, both look good, but I think Behind Closed Doors looks like it has a bigger shock factor! Fyre Festival doc was crazy & apparently Ja Rule wants to create another one which is insane lol! I haven’t tried this version of mascara from Maybelline, I’m still very loyal to their Lash Sensational, but I have to try this one if it adds more volume 🙂

    1. Ahh they are soo good!!! They both have huge twists at the end!

Ja Rule seriously is considering that?!?! LOL!!! Oh man, that’s next level… I’ll be interested to see if that plays out…

Ohhh I’ll have to try their Lash Sensational two! Sometimes I like to overlap mascaras for more volume, so I’ll try pairing them too! Thanks for sharing with me & stopping by, Sophia 🙂

  19. I will have to find a TJ’s around here to get that brioche bread!
I’ve been wanting some air pods for a while but are they apple only? If so, I dont think they would work with my android? I’ll have to look into it lol
I’ll be sure to look for those documentaries as well as the book. They both look interesting.
And I’m still looking for a mascara that works for me. I swear I’ve tried so many and I’m not happy with any of them.
I MUST watch the final table. I love cooking shows and cooking competitions lol.

    1. YES! If you get any items at TJ’s, I’d recommend the brioche! It is sooo dang delicious!

I think they are apple only.. hmmmm. Maybe not though! That’s a great question. They are blue tooth, so maybe they just need to attach to the Android blue tooth?

YES! if you like the Final Table you will LOVE this!

      1. Ok I’ll be making a trip this week. Anything else you might recommend from TJ’s that I should really really really try?😆
I’ll look into it. I really want a pair I could definitely use them for my workouts when ciel is still sleeping so i dont blast the volume and wake him lol .

I’m sooo hooked on the final table! We’ve been watching it all week!! We just watched the Japan episode last night and my heart almost broke! All the guys that are left are seriously amazing I’m rooting for every single one!! 😭😭

      2. Oh my gosh I’m panicking because there is SO much I’d recommend haha. I feel overwhelmed every time I go because I want to buy everything! The everything but the bagel seasoning is ah-may-zing.. tzatziki is my current loveeee, their pita chips are top notch, as are their elote corn chip dippers with cilantro jalapeno hummus, and of course- you know about the bread!!! Their pizzas are great too. UGH, I could just go on and onnn. Don’t forget to try a free sample too 😉 That’s my favorite part of going lol.

YESSS!!! Aww I’m so glad you are enjoying it <3 Such a great show. It's soo hard when you love all the contestants!!! I still need to finish the season, but I want to as soon as school allows. Have a great weekend, love! Can't wait to hear all about your TJ finds :)

      3. Awh I’m sorry! Dont feel pressured to do the list!! I’m not even sure when we will be coming lol. I had hoped to go this year but it may not be possible.

      4. And I just realized we were talking about TJ and not SF in general omg what! Haha. I need to keep up with our comments because I cannot remember what I last said lol

      5. LOL!!! hahah girl I have done this so many times before on other peoples’ blogs. One time I had an entire conversation with Kate from LiveintheNautical thinking we were talking about Portland, OR and she was talking about Portland, Maine (WHICH we had established a couple threads prior, but I just totally forgot) bahah!! Did you end up going to TJs?!

      6. Omg haha I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who does that
And i actually haven’t because i didn’t go grocery shopping ALL week. I’ve just been making foods from whatever we have at home because I dont want anything to go bad.

      7. I hear ya! I cannot justify eating out if food is about to go bad. Hope you can try soon – and have the best week ahead, girl!
