Tartine Bakery & Darioush in Napa!

Happy Sunday, my friends!! I am sitting here on the couch after church chillin’ with football on in the background and all my school work DONE for the weekend (until tomorrow 😉 ). Life is guuud.

OH, and I just have to share that my sister is ENGAGED! I am ecstatic beyond words. You may remember this favorite couple of mine from here, here, and here. They are finally getting murrried, and I am here. for. it.  Gosh, I just am so happy for them, and love um’ so much!

Anyways—I am only two weeks late with this? haha.. I’ll catch up eventually. On the morning of September 2nd, my mom, Pete, and I woke up early to go to SF to knock out a bucket list item at where else than a Bakery?!

I have had my eyes on Tartine for a long time…I even had specific items that I wanted to try after doing into a deep dive in YELP. They only have three locations- SF, LA, and Seoul, South Korea.

Like I said in my last post, there is no one better to go to Bakeries with than my mom and Pete- I know they won’t shy away from trying basically everything on the menu with me! (Unfortunately, Deej had to work :/). After waiting about 30 mins, we finally made it to the front to order our goods.

I think these pictures will speak for themselves!

Below is the frangipane croissant with almond cream. This was maybe our favorite (along with the morning bun).

And this is the morning bun with cinnamon sugar and candied orange- pure gold.

I think I loved the lemon cream tart more than they did- it sure was rich for 9 am, but anything lemon I am all about. This was superb!

We also tried their lemon tea cake- this was great too- but not a “must try”.

We also gobbled up the pain au chocolat. It was very good, but the frangipane croissant with almond cream was even better!

gotta try the Eclair, right?!

And what’s the point of enjoying baked goods without some coffee?

It was all so scrumptious- I forgot to mention we shared a chewy, fudgy brownie as well. I still want to go back to try much more- like their croque monsieur with shiitake mushroom and coconut cream pie!

With very full & happy tummies, we headed to Napa! First stop on the list was Darioush.

From the get-go this place is magnificent! It is unlike anything I have ever seen before. The winery is tucked against a beautiful mountainous background and surrounded by vineyards. The Persian inspired grounds coupled with the wine provided an unforgettable winery experience. This may be one of my favorites I have ever been to in Napa!

Even the interior is gorgeously designed

We had a reservation and were treated with a shaded table and comfortable chairs in a terrace area to enjoy our tastings.

After they brought out pistachios and water for us we began the tasting

This pour right here is one of the best tastings of the day- their 2015 Signature Cabernet Sauvignon. It actually may be the best cab I’ve ever had. The woman who was serving the wine was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. I highly highly recommend this winery if you are visiting Napa.

Winery photos!

I’ll wrap it up here for now 🙂

Questions for you:

  • What were y’all up to this weekend? (drop link if you’ve got it 🙂 )
  • Favorite bakery item?

  1. You have such a beautiful and interesting life! 💗 My husband and I went to a street festival called Blues Fest this weekend. My favorite bakery item… all of them? I can’t decide!

    1. Hi, Emma! Thank you tons, love. That’s so sweet to say. Oooo that festival sounds like a ton of fun! haha , I know- it’s hard to choose for sure.

    1. Hahah! This made me giggle- I screenshotted your comment and sent it to my mom- she’ll so appreciate this. Thanks for stopping in, AJ!!! Have a great week 🙂

  2. So you’ll send me one of everything form Tartine right? It all looks amazing!! Each picture had me almost drooling because of how good they look.

Your mom’s dress that she wore in Napa is so cute! It looks like you guys had a wonderful time at the winery. In reality, is a winery ever a bad time? From the times I’ve gone, no.

    Congrats to your sister!!

    1. Heck ya! Loading up the truck now 😜 it was alllll so good- like one amazing thing after another. I genuinely wanna go back and try more of their savory items next time- so much to eat!

Awww I will pass on the sweet words to her – she’ll so appreciate that. And right? I forget if I’ve already asked- but have you been to Napa? I swear it is heaven on earth- so peaceful, beautiful, and delicious wine galore! Hope your week is off to a great start, Maureen !

      1. No I haven’t been to Napa but I definitely want to go! Any trip that involves visiting wineries and drinking wine sounds like a winning trip to me

  3. What an awesome winery find! I’ve never heard of these guys. They are on my must see list the next time we head to Napa! Thanks for the writeup! Beautiful photos too ❤️

  4. Gimme alllllll the bakery noms! We have a bakery near my house called Wild Love Bakehouse, and it is phenomenal! I too loveeeeeeeee the almond croissant more than a chocolate one! I love chocolate the most the majority of the time but the almond take the cake. teehee

Your hair and that braid are adorable!! I just love braids, but I can only do basic ones. boo

CONGRATS to your sister!!! Let the fun wedding planning begin! Prayers to a smooth and fun engagement for them!

I recapped my weekend on the blog!

    1. Ohhhhhh that bakery sounds sooo good 😋😋 y’alll May have to go soon to share some yums with us! I don’t know what it is about the almond but it really is the best- I think it’s just the right amount of sweet to complement the croissant 🥐 now I’m droooling 🤤

      Thanks, girl!

Loved your recap- looked like SUCH a fun weekend!!!

      1. I just might have to go soon! Ya know, for the blog. It doesn’t count to eat tons and spend if it’s for a cause, right? ha!

        So exciting!!!

Thank you! It was a blast!

  5. What an incredible time you all had!! I’m absolutely drooling over those pastries. While the croissants sound amazing, the lemon cream tart is epic looking!

I love your braid same as Kaci and you really are model status, girl! I love the large pot of succulents – no surprise there! All of your photos are gorgeous.

I shared my weekend recap on ze blog. I hope you have a beautiful day!

    1. Yayyyyy so glad you are with me on the lemon cream tart… my mom and Pete felt like it was too much for breakfast, but I think it was my favorite behind the almond croissant ! 🥐

    1. Thanks, Hunida! 🤗 I will pass on your congrats!! I am soooo excited too- we already started planning!

Girl, I was sooo close to getting it! But I had a predetermined list going in- so much more to try next time.

  7. This weekend I had a great time at a wedding and followed that up with a horrible run in the morning (no correlation there, I’m sure).

    Apple fritter. All day. 🙂

  8. Oh my gosh! I need all of those baked goods now! Bakeries are my weakness and I would have had to have one of each! I have heard of Tartine before, and would love to visit one! That winery looks incredible! It almost looks like a big resort.

    1. girl you and me both! Bakeries overwhelm me.. but in the best way! Haha- I can never decide what to choose!

Darioush is unlike anything I have ever seen in terms of winery- it definitely did have a resort feel! Especially the entrance and inside felt like a big lobby to a hotel or something! Hope you’re having a great week, Chica!

  9. Eeeeeekkk! I legit just screamed the coffee shop down! Congrats to your sister! I am SO flipping excited for you guys! Also congrats on getting all your work done! Yay! Though I have to say football and I are NOT friends right now!

They are so cute together and I am sure your whole family are so excited! Pass on my well wishes please Mackenzie! Oh my gosh this bakery looks amazing ! i am writing it in the morning and I had to go get some treats to eat . Everything looks so good! I see you are wearing a VERY cute dress but only see part of it! You will have to send on a pic of you wearing it in all its glory! Darioush is so so pretty. i love the grounds . The plants and flowers are awesome and look at that lillipad pond with mini fountains. The bottles of wine even have very inviting colorful labels ! Is 10.17 am too early to enjoy a glass now that my pastries have been eaten?? Lol , just joking but the Cabernet Sauvignon is tempting right now!! Lovely photos of your Mom and Pete, the dress is pretty on her with the fun sleeves. You seen my post from last week featuring Carmen , I have another cute lady featured this week , post coming out tomorrow!! I do like eclairs but got to be careful , they are so good! Thanks for post, Terri xo.

    1. Hi Terri!! 💕 YES THEY DID 😍😍 thanks for your congrats 🤗 we are all very excited !! I will also pass on the sweet congrats to Halston! Thank you so much 🙂

Aw thank you! In the next winery post I think I have a full shot of it 🙂 I have to be honest- when I bought this dress I thought in the back of my head that you would approve! 🙂 your floral, flowy dresses inspired this one!

Darioush was one of be most beautiful, clean, and nice wineries I’ve ever been to! So nice. Heck no- not too early ever when you are reading about Napa! 5 o clock somewhere! 🥂 Tehe. Either way I hope you are able to enjoy a nice glass sometime this weekend at least!

My mom has an eye for fashion! She is so photogenic too. I cannot wait to see your post! I am getting my school schedule down pat which is helping me get on a blogging routine too – I missed it last year when I’d get so far behind! Thanks for stopping by, Terri! ❤️

      My momma ah

      1. Thanks Mackenzie for passing on the well wishes to Halston, so happy for them! Aww that is so nice you thought of Me when buying the dress , I’m honored and you look beautiful wearing it. No wine yet but there is some Moscato chilled! Take care, Terri xo.

  12. Omg ANOTHER bakery?! 😭😭😭😭 I need to go here too lol. Omg everything looks so good!!! If you ever want to go back and I’m there, I’m your plus one!!! Lol.
Oh my gosh!!!! Is that really a winery?! I can see why it’s your favorite one so far it looks absolutely stunning and beautiful with all those flowers and omg the lotus!!! I love how you got a shaded seating area that must have so nice!!! I know I’ve never been but that’s no ordinary winery from what I see lol. I’m glad you had a great experience I think it always helps when the staff is knowledgeable. 😊😊
I need to go to a winery someday with or without Alex lol.

    1. Heck yaaa!! Girl, I am ALWAYS down for a plus one to a bakery! DJ isn’t a fan- so please oh please go with me! hehe.

The winery was like a dream! The staff really did make the time there spectacular. I highly recommend anyone going to wine country for the experience- even if you don’t like wine, just the environment, the beauty of the area, and the general experience all together is unlike anything!! I would TOTALLY take you for the day if you do visit! But even a local winery is so much fun too! I know Portland has some AWESOME ones. I would have loved to have gone to some while we were there- but felt like we needed to do the breweries since it is beer country 😉

      1. Lol has he even tried donuts? Maybe he hasn’t had the right ones. Donuts are the best. Donuts are life! Lol.
I’ll do some research on the wineries here, is it a seasonal thing do you know? Like are they only open during the summer? I have no clue haha.
But yeah there’s tons and tons of breweries here, I don’t like beer much so I’m not into it which is a shame really, but I guess I could always go with my cousins since they know more about them and at least give them a try. I hear widmer brothers is good.

      2. Oh I should clarify- he LOVES donuts & cookies. Those are his two things. But all the other niche bakery items he is not about. I don’t understand it! haha.

I think they’d be open year round- especially if it’s a brick and mortar winery rather than a vineyard!! I’m sure you could find one open at all times 🙂 I should make a trip up to try one out with ya! I’m with you– I actually have grown to enjoy the taste of beer more with certain fun foods – like soft pretzels or pizza, but it bloats me something terrible, so I stay away from it usually!

Ooo I have to keep Widmer brothers in mind.We liked Deschutes the best of all the ones we tried. Have you heard of that one?

      3. Wait what?! 😂 how?! Lol donuts are donuts! And they’re all soo good if not better than regular/basic donuts lol.
Oh okay! I still haven’t checked but I should write it down or go look now before I forget again lol. And if you came that’d be awesome since you know more about wine than I do lol.
Yes I’ve heard of deshutes too. Maybe I’ll just try to get some from the grocery store and see if I like them since we don’t go to any other places where they would serve it or maybe I haven’t looked closely enough since I never drink it lol

  13. So he loves donuts and donut shops, but he doesn’t care so much for the “niche” items like the lemon tarts or morning buns!

I will definitely let you know if I can make a trip at any point! And yeah I bet they sell Deschutes in the store! But they also have good food if you ever wanna go for that too- I loved their pretzel 🤤
